Be the Sparkle Someone Needs Today ✨

Shannon’s August Update

Lately, it feels as though far too many people have experienced the heartbreaking loss of someone they love, often suddenly and far too soon. These losses are a powerful reminder that life is precious, that we never truly know what someone else may be going through, and that kindness, compassion, and empathy matter more than we realize.

I’ve been thinking a lot about how we interact with one another, through our words, our actions, and the assumptions we make. Do we lead with empathy, or do we assume everything is okay in someone else’s world?

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to realize that nearly everyone is carrying some kind of hardship. It may be something they are experiencing personally, or they may be supporting a family member or friend through a difficult time. Grief, fear, frustration, shame, and countless other emotions can exist just beneath the surface, even when someone appears to be doing fine.

What if we approached each interaction with the understanding that the person in front of us may be carrying something heavy and could use a little extra grace?

Maybe they have just received a frightening diagnosis. Maybe someone they love has experienced a devastating loss. Maybe their child is facing a mental health crisis, or a loved one has been seriously injured. We simply don’t know what is happening behind the smile, or how much courage it may have taken for someone to get through the day.

A New Approach

What if we approached each interaction with the understanding that the person in front of us may be carrying something heavy and could use a little extra grace?

Sometimes, we need to be the light in someone else’s darkness. We can be the person who offers a smile, checks in, listens without judgment, or goes out of the way to be kind. We can treat others with the same patience, dignity, and compassion we would hope to receive during our own difficult moments.

This is also a reminder to appreciate the people in our lives while we have the opportunity. Tell them what they mean to you. Thank them for the ways they have touched your life. Don’t wait for the perfect moment to reach out, the smallest expression of gratitude or kindness may mean far more than you know.

Never underestimate the difference you can make. Your words matter. Your actions matter. You may be the person who helps someone feel seen, valued, and a little less alone. And please remember that you matter, too. You are loved, you are valuable, and this world is better because you are here.

So, from me to you, I will continue doing my best to make this world a kinder, more accepting place, one interaction at a time. If this is the sign you need, tell someone you love them, you value them, and you’re grateful they’re here. Love is everywhere; we simply have to keep passing it on.

Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.

Ready To Refocus, Reconnect & Reignite?

There’s something about the changing of the seasons that makes me want to pause, reset, and ask, “What’s next?” As we head into fall, it’s the perfect time to do the same with your team. Refocus. Reconnect. Reignite the energy. If your team could use a fresh dose of Sparkle Power heading into fall, winter, or the new year, I’d love to bring that energy to your next conference, retreat, or company event and leave your people feeling inspired, connected, and ready to take action on what matters most. Fall and winter dates are booking now, so click here to learn more and reserve your date!

3 Ways to Practice Kindness

  1. Speak well of people when they aren’t in the room. Give credit, mention someone’s contribution, or defend them when they cannot do it themselves.

  2. Make space for the quieter person. Pause before responding, invite their perspective, or redirect attention when someone is interrupted.

  3. Reduce someone’s mental load. Instead of saying, “Let me know if you need anything,” offer something specific: “I’m going to the store, what can I bring you?”

Sparkle on,

-Shannon :)

Friends and family make the world go round.
