I’m So Thankful for Your Presence on Our Journey Together!

Shannon’s November update

Happy Thanksgiving!! Wow, what an incredible year it has been and I am so thankful that you have joined me in my journey through life. I appreciate all of you who write me back or reach out to me when a particular email touched your life in some way. To know that we are all in this journey of life together is truly a gift.

This year I’m thankful for…

  1. The hiking and biking trails behind my house.

This is where I feel most at peace. Every time I feel like I need to think or make a big decision, I lace up my shoes and head out with my dog. I feel the sun on my face, the burn in my legs, breathe in the fresh air and just think. I always come back with more mental clarity and peace in my heart.

  2. The friends in my life.

I am a talker (as you all know, lol), and I’m very thankful for how my friends have been there for me this past year to listen to my challenges and provide me with compassion, love and the best advice they can give. It’s so important to have a circle of friends that support you through both the good times and the bad, and I’m so thankful for my girls!!

  3. Having a health scare.

Sometimes our lives can change in an instant. When the doctors found a cluster in my right breast I thought about all of the decisions I was making and the true “living of my life” that I was putting off. We are never guaranteed another day and need to do the things we want to do NOW. Sure, my retirement fund may not be what I want it to be and I may have to work a little longer but I’ve fit in a lot of really fun “life” stuff this year, and that is what matters most to me!

As an Olympic athlete, I put my head down and worked as hard as I possibly could. I worked through injuries, adversity and did what I needed to do when it was the last thing I wanted to do. I got extremely good at persevering, especially when people doubted me and didn’t believe in me. I decided that, this past year, I was going to do less forcing and more listening, asking questions and saying no to things that I don’t want to do. I wanted things to feel right in my soul before I did them.

I have to say this has been one of my best years of my life. I’ve found a happiness that I felt I lost along the way and I’ve allowed my creativity to shine bright. I feel a connection to my family that is deeper and we have created memories that I will never forget. In business, I’ve followed my heart and will be launching something in the near future with someone I have a profound sense of admiration for. I can’t wait to share it with you………soon!
